Culinary tourism in Provence: when private chefs become taste guides

Visit Provence attracts thousands of visitors every summer in search of sun, lavender... and good food. In recent years, a new form of tourism has emerged: personalized culinary tourism. Private chefs play a central role in this trend, acting as artisans, guides and transmitters of local culture.

Some offer a complete tour, including a visit to the’Aix-en-Provence or Saint-Rémy with the customer, seasonal produce selection, in-home cooking workshop, followed by a private dinner in a Provencal mas or villa. All in a relaxed, authentic and deeply human atmosphere.

This approach appeals to international tourists, who enjoy direct contact with producers, and are curious to understand French gastronomic traditions. In 2025, a number of MyTable en Provence chefs integrated these offers into their catalogs, with a particular focus on short circuits, organic products and local wines.

It's also a way for these chefs to promote the richness of their region beyond the plate. By sharing their local knowledge, techniques and creativity, they become true ambassadors of French culinary culture.
